Davis before Davis: Patwin homeland
For thousands of years before the town of Davis existed, this land was and remains part of the traditional homeland of Patwin people.
Davis did not begin with the railroad. For thousands of years, the land around present-day Davis has been home to Patwin people. Today, three federally recognized Patwin tribes continue that relationship with the region, including the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation in Yolo County.
