The 1916 fire that helped push Davis toward incorporation

A major November 1916 fire was especially damaging because Davis had no fire department; the following year the city incorporated.

In November 1916, a large fire struck Davis at a time when the community had no fire department. The disaster became a vivid argument for more formal local services. Davis incorporated the following year, in 1917.
