DAVIS HISTORY

Why one of early Davis traffic signals was for Emerson students

As late as 1965, a rare Davis traffic signal on B Street north of Russell existed so students at the old downtown Emerson campus could cross safely.

Davis had remarkably few traffic signals in the mid-1960s. The City’s local-history project says that as late as 1965, one signal on B Street north of Russell was there not because of heavy car traffic but to help students at old Emerson Junior High cross the street safely.
